In 2016, my husband Paul passed away from complications from Parkinson’s and dementia.
At the end, he was on morphine for the pain. It left Paul in a coma-like state and prevented him from being able to say goodbye to me before he passed away.
My story isn’t unlike hundreds of others across Indiana. While personal, I wanted to share it in the hopes of changing the conversation and ultimately changing the minds of legislators because all those suffering deserve to have safe, regulated, and legal marijuana as a choice.
That’s why I proposed an amendment that would introduce the debatable issue of medical marijuana for terminally ill patients. It did not pass.
However we are making progress, and I have faith. But only if we demonstrate that there is a non-partisan movement happening. Every day more people are starting to recognize that marijuana is a legitimate form of pain management.
We need to make sure Indiana legislators know this. I will continue to fight but I’ll need your help. Can you sign my petition, join me, and let them know where you stand?
